Mr. Langerman requested that we look at the awning in the back of his daycare center and tell him if he should replace it. He said that he’d like to be able to adjust the amount of cover to take advantage of the weather when possible. A retractable, motorized awning seemed like a good idea to him.
Motorized awnings work pretty much anywhere that any immobile cloth awning does. The only question is finding or customizing a set of belts and rollers that fit the size of the desired cover. Mr. Langerman’s was wider and shorter than most, but we found some Lutron rollers for just a slightly narrower awning of that length. Once he’d decided that half a foot less coverage was worth the benefits, we replaced the daycare’s old back awning with the new motorized one.
