We prepared three identical sets of exterior roller shades, each made from 150 rods of thin, maroon-painted bamboo. The windows were deep enough on the outside to accommodate simple rollers, and their gables offered plenty of protection from the rain. Installing each set of exterior bamboo shades was a simple matter, with the most time-consuming part being the drawcords we fed through the wall.
